Why Fearful-Avoidants cheat & disclaimer: this is not to excuse their behavior but to give clarity for those frantically seeking a WHY and making it their own fault to fill in the blanks.
It’s because they were terrified of losing you AND terrified of keeping you.
They pull you in to feel safe, then panic when closeness feels unsafe. So they seek proof they matter elsewhere, self-sabotage before you can leave them, and use cheating to escape feelings they never learned to sit with.
Then comes the guilt, shame, spiral, begging, withdrawing. Which is why it’s so confusing — the remorse can be real and the cycle can still repeat.
Their fear explains the pattern. It doesn’t excuse the choice.
Save this for when you start thinking you weren’t “enough” for them.

Things my followers say that mean A LOT to me 🥹
“Thank you for un-gaslighting us”
“I need a double dose of validation. I’m so broken”
“Somebody on our side” - from a man who finally felt seen
I end every video with “your daily dose of validation” because I mean it. We are ALL about the un-gaslighting around here.
If you’ve ever felt broken, crazy, or alone in your betrayal story — you’re in the right community.
If you want us to un-gaslight you too, welcome. Comment “Waitlist” to join the dozens of people waiting for the drop of my 14-day Unspiral Challenge (formerly known as the 2 a.m. spiral toolkit) this one will be interactive, not just another download that sits in your inbox. We are doing this together 💪

You’re telling me that you’d rather have s_x with a 📺 or a 📖 and your hand...
Then with your partner in the other room who LOVES you?
Make it make sense. 🤷‍♀️
This is what betrayal trauma does to your brain. It’s not just “p_rn.” It’s the rejection, the secrecy, the choosing of a screen over your body, your connection, your love.
And then they tell you you’re overreacting.
You’re not. Your body knows the difference between intimacy and escape. And you felt the escape.
If you’ve ever stood in the kitchen while they were in the other room choosing THAT over you…I see you. You’re not crazy. You’re not too needy. You were betrayed.

Your body protecting you from what’s unsafe.
This is what it actually looks like:
You shut down instead of opening up. Closeness feels repelling. You feel guarded even in calm moments. Connection feels forced. You feel relief when they’re not around. You can’t access empathy anymore. Conflict doesn’t activate you. Your desire to reconnect is mental, not emotional. And you’re already planning a life without them.
This doesn’t mean you’re broken, cold, or incapable of love.
It usually means your nervous system learned that closeness with this person wasn’t safe — so it started protecting you.

If you felt every single slide of this in your body, you are not alone.
Follow me Jennifer Ortiz | Betrayal Trauma Therapist for more daily validation, nervous system education, and ungaslighting after betrayal trauma. I’ll be breaking down what to do when your body does this next.
Save this for when you start thinking you’re the cold one. You’re not.

Why Dismissive-Avoidants CHEAT... and it’s not what you think.
It’s not about desire. It’s about DISTANCE.
If what they knew growing up was distance, emotional numbing, and pulling away to stay safe — then your love felt unfamiliar.
Too loving. Too giving. Too kind. Too SAFE.
And the brain will always choose what’s familiar over what’s healthy, because the brain wants what it knows.
So after the milestone, the deep conversation, the amazing weekend together... they panic. True intimacy feels too scary and too overwhelming. So they self-sabotage.
Infidelity, for this attachment style, is another form of pulling away. They can compartmentalize s*x from love, and compartmentalize your pain from their actions. They detach.
So the next time you start spiraling into “was I not enough?”
Remember this: The infidelity was about their escape, not your worthiness.
You are not broken for wanting real connection.
Save this for the days you start blaming yourself. And follow Jennifer Ortiz | Betrayal Trauma Therapist for daily validation from the girl who ungaslights you for a living 🫶💕

When are you going to stop bringing it up?
Maybe when you stop doing it. That would help.
Maybe when you can sit in an uncomfortable conversation and get curious about how we feel, instead of trying to rug sweep it and get it over with as fast as possible.
Bringing it up again isn’t the problem. The problem is that nothing was actually repaired the first time you talked about it.
True repair sounds like:
“What was that like for you?”
“What do you need from me to feel safe again?”
“Tell me more.”
Not: “Are we done yet?”
If you’re stuck in the loop of bringing it up, getting shut down, and then feeling crazy for bringing it up again, you’re not crazy. You’re unheard.
Save this for the next time you get hit with that line.
Have you heard this one? What did you say back? Let’s talk about it below.

Just wondering how many videos I have to record before my people finally believe that the BETRAYAL wasn’t THEIR FAULT.
It wasn’t your fault.
Not the way you looked.
Not what you did or didn’t do.
Not because you weren’t enough.
Betrayal is about their choices, not your worth.
Even if it takes a MILLION videos, I’ll still be here every day saying it until you feel it in your body, not just know it in your head.
Follow along if you need that daily reminder 🤍
Have you ever believed it was your fault? Tell me below, I read every comment.
