A newborn baby’s entire hearing apparatus is slightly immature but responds best to high-pitched voices.

Their mother’s voice is their absolute favorite because they associates it with warmth, food, and comfort. Babies like the high-pitched voices of women in general, and most adults seem to understand that fact intuitively and respond to accordingly, without even realizing it.
