“If you listen to the patient, their story will guide the treatment plan.”
This belief has guided me throughout my career as a nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner.
After more than 30 years in nursing and many years practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have learned that one of the most important things I can give a patient is my time and my attention.
People don't always enjoy going to the doctor. Sometimes they feel rushed, unheard, or as though their concerns are reduced to a diagnosis or a prescription. I believe healthcare should be different.
Preventive care, listening, respecting the patient, and helping people feel heard are fundamental to quality care. When I understand a patient's story, concerns, goals, lifestyle, and experiences, we can work together to develop a plan that makes sense for that person.
That is one of the reasons I was so drawn to Golden Rule Direct Primary Care. I love the meaning behind the name: treat others the way that you want to be treated. I see that philosophy in Dr. Parsons and the entire Golden Rule team—their compassion, responsiveness, willingness to listen, and proactive approach to helping patients achieve better health.
I believe you should treat friends like family and strangers like friends.
Patients have often asked me, “Could you be my doctor?” or thanked me simply for listening and taking the time to understand what they are experiencing. Those moments mean a great deal to me because they reflect what I believe medicine should be about: relationships, trust, compassion, prevention, and partnership.
My clinical background includes family practice and walk-in care, and I have also pursued additional training in functional and nutritional medicine and functional weight management. My goal is to bring all of these experiences together to provide thoughtful, individualized care.
I recently made the move from Michigan to Florida to be closer to family and to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of the Treasure Coast. I am married and the proud mom of four adult children and grandmother to three grandchildren. Family is incredibly important to me, and I treasure the time we are able to spend together.
When I'm not caring for patients, you'll likely find me spending time with family, riding my bike, or learning my newest hobby—Mah Jongg.
I am excited to begin this new chapter with Golden Rule Direct Primary Care and to build meaningful relationships with the patients and families I have the privilege of caring for.
I look forward to getting to know you and, most importantly, listening to your story."
