Carrie Janell is crossing the hill and subbing for Bonnie Burroughs at Black Dog in Studio City today:

Carrie is also part of the faculty for our annual Yoga Teacher Training, which brings us to some exciting news: Winter YTT is back. ❄️

For the first time since 2020, we’re bringing back our winter training, starting this January.

The yoga doesn’t just happen in the yoga room.

Sometimes it’s on your mat. And sometimes it’s in the back room, working through a class before you ever walk in the door.

What you get in class is the part you see. There’s a whole lot of practice, planning, playing around and figuring-it-out that happens behind the scenes.

Happy birthday, Katie Heeran, MA, LMFT, RYT! 🎉

Katie goes way back with Black Dog. Like 2011 in Sherman Oaks back. Like Groupon was still a thing back. 😂 (Yes, that was her first class with us)

Since then, we’ve watched her defy gravity, make shapes we’re pretty sure shouldn’t be possible, and somehow turn around and teach a class that’s accessible, welcoming and very much for everybody.

A little Katie through the years here, plus today’s birthday crew after she kicked off the day taking Larry Santiago’s Saturday morning class 🤸 Because apparently yoga is also what you do on your day off from teaching yoga. 🤷‍♂️

She’ll be popping up on the schedule throughout the summer, including teaching Mondays at 4:30pm while Shiloh Filin is away for the rest of the month.

The hugs say it all 🥰

When BDY moved from Sherman Oaks to Studio City, we had to build a mostly new front desk team from scratch. We got lucky. We found Krista.

For 3-plus years, Krista Latow welcomed you in, learned your names, answered a million questions, celebrated your wins, and somehow made everyone feel like a regular.

Last week, we said goodbye as she headed home to Florida for grad school. We’re incredibly excited for what’s next, but we’re definitely going to miss seeing her behind the desk.

Thank you for being such a big part of Black Dog, Krista. Once family, always family. 💙
