🌈 Pride Month is also a reminder that mental health and recovery support must be inclusive, affirming, and accessible for everyone.
LGBTQ+ adults experience mental health conditions at significantly higher rates than the general population. Some estimates show nearly half of le***an, gay, and bisexual adults experience a mental illness each year.
Studies have found that LGBTQ+ individuals are more than twice as likely to use illicit drugs and nearly twice as likely to experience a substance use disorder compared to their heterosexual peers.
Research estimates that 20–30% of LGBTQ+ individuals struggle with substance misuse, compared to approximately 9% of the general population.
These disparities are not because of who someone is—they are often linked to experiences of discrimination, rejection, stigma, and barriers to affirming healthcare.
At APEX Recovery & Behavioral Health, we believe everyone deserves a safe space to heal, grow, and be their authentic self. Recovery and mental wellness are for everyone!
