Ever feel like your psychologist just asked you the same questionβ¦ again? π§
Thereβs often a reason.
During a clinical interview, psychologists may approach the same symptom from several different angles to better understand when it started, how often it occurs, where it happens, how much it affects functioning, and whether the information is consistent across different contexts.
That distinction matters because the same symptom can have many possible explanations. Difficulty concentrating, for example, doesnβt automatically mean ADHD.
Good psychological assessment isnβt simply about checking off symptoms. Itβs about understanding patterns, context, history, impairment, and the whole person before reaching a clinical conclusion.
So yesβwe may have already asked you that question. We might be asking it again for a reason.
