Today, our hearts are heavy.
As a Board, we have the privilege of witnessing recovery in its rawest and most beautiful form. We see individuals choose hope when hopelessness feels easier. We watch people fight battles many will never fully understand. We celebrate victories, walk through setbacks, and remind one another that every life has value.
Last night, our recovery community experienced a tremendous loss.
While we will respect the privacy of the family and those closest to this situation, we ask our community to join us in prayer for everyone impacted. A family is grieving. Friends are grieving. Members of our recovery community are grieving.
In moments like these, we are reminded that recovery is not simply about overcoming addiction. It is about restoring dignity, rebuilding lives, rediscovering purpose, and finding belonging. Every person who walks through our doors has a story, has struggles, has dreams, and most importantly, has immeasurable worth.
We understand that recovery can sometimes be misunderstood. But we ask our community to remember that the people we serve are not defined by their worst days. They are mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, siblings, friends, neighbors, and beloved children of God.
As we mourn this loss, may we choose compassion over judgment, grace over criticism, and love over assumptions.
Please keep this family, the women of Ruth House, the members of Recovery Café, and all who are hurting in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.
May we honor this life by loving one another a little deeper, extending grace a little further, and remembering that every person deserves hope.
