☀️ Pharmacy Tip Tuesday ☀️

If you’re spending time outside this summer, be aware that some medications can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight (photosensitivity) and can also affect how your body handles heat, increasing the risk of sunburn, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke.

Some of the most common medications that can increase sun sensitivity include:
☀️ Bactrim® (SMX/TMP)
☀️ Doxycycline
☀️ Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)
☀️ Isotretinoin/Tretinoin
☀️ Amiodarone

If you’re taking one of these medications, remember to:
🧴 Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+)
👒 Wear a hat and protective clothing
🕶️ Don’t forget your sunglasses
🌞 Try to avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak afternoon hours
