Summerville Mayor's Committee Long name, simple mission: Providing Scholarships to Summerville SC students with Differing Abilities to help them gain meaningful employment and success.

Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Visiter Center on Main Street, Summerville at 12:00 noon. We have virtual and in-person meetings. We welcome you.

Congratulations to each and every Award and Scholarship recipient today at the SMC’s 36th Annual Awards Luncheon! This is truly the best day of the year.

We are thankful for the community support for the last 36 years that we receive!

We might have a very long name, but each of those words represent someone we serve in Summerville. We couldn’t do it without our Sponsors and our community. Thank you all!

Despite our long name we do one simple thing: Advocate and Provide scholarships (and awards!) to Summerville students (as well as employers and difference makers) to differently abled students and those who support them.

Past award winner Jamari is living his best life at the Clemson Life Program gala. We are so proud of what Jamari is doing at Clemson and proud to be a part of his journey and growth!

We look forward to awarding scholarships and awards in May but we need a little bit more help to make sure that all the money we raise goes to Scholarships.

We are thoroughly excited to be planning our 2026 SMC Scholarship Awards Luncheon for May 6, 2026 where we award thousands of dollars in scholarships to some of the most deserving students in Summerville and recognize businesses, partners, and people who make a difference in the lives of disabled Summerville Students.

We do need some help though! So that all of the money we raise each year continues to go towards scholarships, we are asking our community to step in with a small sponsorship for the luncheon in hopes to be revenue neutral again this year.
