🚒 THANK YOU, TOYOTA BOSHOKU ILLINOIS! 🚒

A huge thank-you to our friends at Toyota Boshoku Illinois (TBIL) for their generous donation to Christy Fire Protection District!

These funds went toward the purchase of a new Stokes basket, an essential piece of rescue equipment that greatly improves our ability to safely retrieve and transport injured or downed persons from difficult-to-access locations.

Support from community partners like TBIL helps our all-volunteer department continue improving our equipment and serving our community.

🔥 DRY CONDITIONS = INCREASED FIRE DANGER 🔥

This afternoon, farm machinery sparked a grass fire. We understand that accidents happen, especially during harvest, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to stay safe.

With dry conditions and windy weather, we are experiencing prime conditions for grass fires and wildfires. A small spark can quickly turn into a much larger problem.

Rain is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, but until then, we ask everyone to avoid all unnecessary burning.

Small, controlled campfires in established fire rings, such as those found at state parks, are acceptable. However, please make sure your fire is completely out and no longer smoldering before going to bed or leaving the area. Never leave a campfire unattended.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we navigate these dry conditions. A little extra caution now can help prevent a much larger emergency later.

Harvest is in full swing, and with fall comes dry conditions and increased fire danger. From farming operations to backyard campfires, make sure you’re prepared to handle the hazards that can arise this time of year. Enjoy, but be safe!

Thankfully, rain is in the forecast this weekend, and hopefully it will settle the dust and give everyone a little relief as we enjoy all of our fall festivities.

🍂🚒 The Christy Fire Fall Display is officially up!

With a little input from our “Creative Art Division,” a few gallons of paint, and some spare parts we had laying around, we somehow managed to turn it all into a work of art!
We were happy to jump at the opportunity when we were contacted by the City and are proud to be part of the fall decorations along Christy Ave.

Your Christy Firemen are always proud to take part in the annual parade, and this year is no different. We’re proud to support our community, our school, and our Dawgs!

Fun Fact: Christy Fire has 7 officers, 6 of whom attended Red Hill High School, and 17 of our firefighters are Red Hill alumni.

Thanks to Verna Mae Harmon and her family for the generous donation to our fire house in memory of her late husband, Jack.

Jack was not only a former Chief for us, but a true Sumner staple. Everyone knew Jack, and he was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.

The stories told and lessons learned around this bench will help keep Jack’s memory alive for years to come. We hope every time someone sits down here, they’ll share a story, remember a lesson, or simply think about the man who gave so much to his community.

Thank you, Verna Mae and family, for helping us honor Jack in such a meaningful way.

His legacy will continue to have a seat at our firehouse. ❤️🚒
