As a native of Sumter, Mr. Bullock graduated from Wilson Hall School where his mother taught English, and started his own business in Sumter as his father did. He began his funeral experience at 17 years of age at the Old Hurst Funeral Home. Always wanting to return home to Sumter, after graduating from the University of South Carolina, Mr. Bullock chose the funeral business because he found it personally rewarding to help people in one of their most difficult times. Bullock Funeral Home is located in the former Lowder mansion, which was relocated from the Columbia Highway to its current location at 1190 Wilson Hall Road. With their beautiful landscaped grounds, handicapped accessibility and ample lighted parking, Bullock Funeral Home is prepared to provide gracious service for those in their time of need. The building, built in 1954, was restored to its original grandeur and a spacious 300 + seat chapel was added; to make this one of South Carolina's premier funeral homes. Dominic Montell Obituary

Sumter, SC ….. Dominic Joseph Montell, age 92, beloved husband of 50 years to Jacqueline Montell, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at his residence.

Born February 9, 1934, in New Straitsville, OH, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Montell.

Dominic served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War. Afterwards, he continued working in air traffic control, which he learned in Korea. Dominic will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his children, Stephen, Janet, Andy, Philip, Lisa, and David, all of whom live in Ohio.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Anne and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne and St Jude, 1885 Beckwood Rd. Sumter, SC, Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105-2479.

Rajen Patel, 43, of Sumter, South Carolina, entered into the presence of the Lord on May 21, 2026.

Born on October 17, 1982, Rajen spent nearly his entire life in Sumter, where he became a familiar and beloved presence in the community. For more than 20 years, he worked in jewelry sales, remaining a steady and welcoming face through changing store owners, store names, and even changes to the mall itself. Customers and coworkers alike remember Rajen for his warmth, kindness, and the genuine care he showed to every person he met. To many, seeing Rajen’s smile was one of the constants of their day.

Rajen was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life and love for others. He will be remembered most for his innocent spirit and the genuine care he showed to people from all walks of life.

He is lovingly survived by his parents, Sureshkumar (Sudhir/Sam) Patel and Ilaben Patel; his brother, Viren Patel; his sister-in-grace, Sweta Patel; and his grandfather, Natvarbhai Patel.

Visitation and Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 (Attire: Celebratory, Bright, Colorful), at Bullock Funeral Home, 1190 Wilson Hall Road, Sumter, SC 29150. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the Celebration of Life Service with family and loved ones gathering to honor and remember Rajen’s life. The Committal Service will follow privately with immediate family.

Sumter, SC…….. Hazel E. Pierson Wilson, age 97, widow of Frank B. Wilson, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, at Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab.

Born on October 27, 1928, in the Providence community of Sumter County, SC, she was the middle daughter of the late George and Evie Osteen Pierson. She retired from Campbell Soup after a long employment. She began teaching Sunday School as a teenager, continuing until she could no longer plan and execute the lessons. Hazel was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and was a member of Bethesda Church of God at the time of her passing. She never met a stranger, as was evident in her taking in so many military families as her own. Not only could she make anything grow and thrive, but she could make a meal out of anything. Having a passion for missions, she was given the gift of making and selling what is affectionately known as “Hazel bread”. She was the caregiver of the family, noting that she was the last of her siblings.

Survivors are: Two sons, Raleigh “Steve” Bramlette and his wife Joyce of Summerville, SC, and Paul “Andy” Bramlette and his wife Sandi of Rembert, SC; Two daughters, Elaine Faulling and her husband Floyd of Sumter, SC and Patricia Wilson of TN; 17 grandchildren, Amber, Darrell, Tonya, Rocky, Paul Adam, Brittney, Rett, Tonia, Rachel, Brook, Patrick, Sonny, Susan, Eddie, David, Brian and Amy; and at last count 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Vincent Bramlette and Eddie Wilson, son in law, Everett Faulling, grandson, Jewl Bryant, great grandson, Lil Rocky Bramlette and siblings, Marguerite P. and Carol Morris, Frances P. and Joe Kolar, Gaither “Bill” and Lorraine Pierson, Paul and Hattie Pierson, Sam Pierson, and Baxter Pierson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at Bullock Funeral Home.

CMSgt. Harry D. Champy, Jr., United States Air Force (Retired), passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Dalzell, South Carolina. Born in Cameron, S.C., on August 10, 1938, he was a proud graduate of Cameron High School, Class of 1956.

Harry enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation, beginning a distinguished career that spanned nearly three decades. After a brief break in service in 1960, he re-enlisted and continued serving until his retirement on May 1, 1983. His early years in the Air Force were marked by technical excellence—completing Airborne Radar Maintenance School and later cross-training into the Radio Relay and Microwave Maintenance fields, where he served for eighteen years.

In 1976, he was assigned to the 21TASS at Shaw Air Force Base as Ground Radio Communications Superintendent. When the Tactical Air Control career field was established the following year, he remained with the unit, later advancing to Tactical Air Command and Control Superintendent until his retirement. His career included fourteen years of overseas assignments, with service in Germany, Italy, and Iran, as well as stateside postings at Robins AFB (GA), Bergstrom AFB (TX), and Shaw AFB (SC).

CMSgt. Champy’s dedication earned him numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. His professionalism and leadership left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his two sons, Dr. Harry D. Champy, III, and his wife Connie of Gainesville, GA, and Timothy Ron Champy, three grandchildren, Rebekah (Ryan), Noah, and Brandon (Danea), and two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Adelaide, and his brother Perry and his wife Gloria of Panorama City, CA.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Paulette Champy Mims, and her husband, Julian Mims of Edgefield, SC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Dalzell Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Barnette officiating.

Interment will follow at Cameron Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
