Alison shares her feeding journeys with her two kiddos with us. 💕
------------
Claire was born four months before the COVID-19 shutdowns. I felt so much comfort when she was in my arms and never liked passing her around. I was constantly nap trapped. Breastfeeding came relatively easy for us, knowing what I know now we definitely would have benefited from some extra help. We were never able to get her to take a bottle, and I ended up leaving a job I was not looking forward to going back to.
Becoming a new mom, I needed like-minded people in my corner: my husband to keep my nursing area stocked with snacks and to check in on me; my mom to remind me that I was doing a great job; my sisters to offer encouragement that things get easier; and my best friend to normalize safe bed sharing.
When Lucas came, I felt very confident in my parenting. I was more comfortable with passing him around and wore him all the time, which was necessary. I remember Claire watched a LOT of TV in the early days cue the mom guilt. I had a huge oversupply that led to mastitis, and I was able to donate a lot of that extra milk.
I am fortunate that I was able to nurse both of my babies for over two years.
