“Old people posture” can start long before you feel old.
Think about how much time you spend looking down at your phone or leaning toward a screen. Your head drifts forward, your shoulders roll in, and your upper back starts to round. Over time, standing tall can feel less natural—and that hunched position may come with neck and shoulder tension.
That’s why Dr. John likes this simple wall exercise. Stand with your back and arms against the wall, then gently draw your chin straight back toward it. Keep your eyes level; don’t tip your head up. Hold for a few seconds, relax, and repeat.
It helps you practice the opposite of that forward-head, rounded-shoulder position. Do it each day to start building a healthy habit.
Try it: Can you get your arms and head against the wall without arching your lower back?
