October is our time to recognize the first responders who show up for our community every day. 🤍
To our police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers, thank you for the long shifts, demanding days, quick decisions, and the care you provide when people need it most.
Your work can place a lot of physical and mental demands on your body, from time spent sitting in a vehicle or at a desk to wearing equipment, lifting, responding quickly, and staying ready for whatever comes next.
Here are 3 quick reset tips to help combat the daily grind:
1️⃣ Drop the Weight: If you wear a heavy duty/utility belt, take it off the second you are back at the station or office during downtime. It instantly unloads your lumbar spine and pelvis.
2️⃣ The 90/90 Hip Reset: After long hours sitting in a rig or cruiser, lie on your back with your legs elevated at a 90-degree angle on a chair or couch for 5 minutes to decompress your lower back.
3️⃣ Counter-Stretch Often: Spend 60 seconds doing doorway chest stretches between calls to reverse the forward-slouch of driving and carrying gear.
This October, we're especially grateful for the people who spend their days taking care of others. Thank you for taking care of our community. 🤍
