Have you ever understood exactly why you react a certain way, yet still found yourself reacting the same way?

Insight can be incredibly valuable, but often understanding alone doesn’t create the change we’re hoping for.

In our first blog, we explore Natural Processing and how paying attention to the nervous system, emotions, and the body can help us move beyond simply managing symptoms and toward deeper resolution.

If you’ve ever thought, “I understand why I feel this way, so why am I still stuck?” this may be worth a read.

What Is Natural Processing? Why Healing May Require More Than Understanding

💜 Women's Trauma & Attachment Healing Group
Now Accepting One New Member

Sometimes trauma doesn't just leave us with painful memories. It changes how we experience relationships, trust, safety, and even ourselves.

You may find yourself feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or repeating relationship patterns you wish you could change. You may understand why you struggle and still feel stuck.

Healing does not have to happen alone.

For over 20 years, I've had the privilege of facilitating psychotherapy groups and witnessing the incredible healing that can occur when women come together in a safe, supportive environment. There is something powerful about discovering you are not alone and allowing yourself to be seen, understood, and encouraged by others walking a similar path.

Our Women's Trauma & Attachment Healing Group is grounded in Natural Processing and integrates attachment theory, Polyvagal Theory, EMDR's Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, and somatic psychotherapy to help members move beyond coping toward lasting healing.

Together we work to:

• Better understand trauma and attachment wounds
• Develop greater nervous system regulation
• Build self compassion and emotional resilience
• Recognize and shift relationship patterns
• Increase awareness of emotions and body sensations
• Move toward greater security, connection, and healing

I really like what Brené Brown calls Speaking Truth to Bu****it. Here are the main points:

Speaking Truth to Bu****it: Brown encourages individuals to address "bu****it" when they encounter it, whether it's from others or even within themselves. She distinguishes "bu****it" from outright lies, describing it as a "wholesale dismissal of the truth" rather than a mere defiance of it.

The Courage to Be Vulnerable: Speaking truth to bu****it requires courage and vulnerability, as it can feel risky and expose us to potential judgment or rejection. Brown emphasizes that courage is born out of vulnerability, not strength.

Civility and Generosity: Brown advocates for a nuanced approach that involves being civil and generous when speaking truth to bu****it. This means choosing to make the most generous assumption about the other person and approaching the conversation with kindness and respect, even when disagreeing.

Boundaries: Setting boundaries is essential for maintaining integrity and enabling both civility and generosity. Brown suggests that the most compassionate people are often the most boundaried, as clear boundaries prevent resentment and burnout, allowing for continued compassion and empathy.

Authenticity and Integrity: Choosing authenticity, as Brown defines it, involves aligning our actions with our values and having the courage to show up as our true selves, even when it's uncomfortable. Speaking truth to bu****it is a part of living authentically and with integrity.

If you need help doing this we have openings!

In Navajo culture, laughter is seen as a powerful symbol of connection. The moment a baby laughs for the first time, it is believed they are choosing to join the human community. Until then, the baby is viewed as still being in transition between the spiritual and physical worlds.

This tradition, known as the A’wee Chi’deedloh ceremony, is typically observed around three months of age. Family members pay close attention during this period, eager to be the one who makes the child laugh. Whoever succeeds earns the honor of hosting the celebration, often preparing a meal of salted food and gifts to mark the occasion.

The ceremony not only celebrates the baby’s first expression of joy, but also emphasizes generosity and community. Salt is symbolically offered to guests to encourage the child to grow up to be generous and kind. It’s one of the earliest social teachings given to a Navajo child—using joy as a path toward belonging and humanity. 🎉👶
