Our residents played a fishing game this week on 2nd floor! It was a lot of fun for everybody and a good way to get some exercise. At least nobody will get mosquito bites or sunburn on our fishing trips!

Our Life Enrichment Assistant Angel, set up a a beach-themed craft for our residents with some shells to decorate with their names! Angel always comes up with wonderful, special crafting ideas that bring smiles to the resident's faces!

Our Bible Study group is small, yet mighty! Led by Kevin Meredith, this group gets together two Mondays each month to sit with each other, sing hymns, and discuss religion in our Event Center. If you're a family member of a resident, you are more than welcome to join your loved ones during these sessions as well! 🙂

Several of our Dove Healthcare leaders hit the links at the WHCA MacKenzie Classic Golf Tournament earlier this week! This tournament raises funds for the George F. MacKenzie Scholarship Fund, which supports individuals pursuing long term careers within the post-acute care sector. We are proud to support those looking to advance their healthcare careers!

We've had some very hot days lately in Wisconsin! Activities mixed up some ice-cold lemonade on Monday to pass out to the residents and members of our team to beat the heat. A "hydration station" was set up at the first floor nurses' station for a few hours in the afternoon to encourage everyone to take a small break and have something to drink. It's always important to take care of ourselves when it's this hot out. 🙂

It was a nicer day the other day, so we took residents outside to enjoy the weather after all the rain we'd had. Residents were able to dress up in their sunhats and enjoy visiting in the fresh air!

“David came to Dove Healthcare - Superior after a lengthy hospitalization. His greatest goals were to improve strength, balance, and the cognizance of physically maneuvering safely. The rehabilitation team did a great job of personally adjusting plans and addressing David’s specific needs through physical and occupational therapy. David has successfully built up muscle tone since he arrived here, and we’re so happy that he’s been able to discharge home.

The CNAs were outstanding at nurturing and caring for David. We also enjoyed getting to know Dr. Farchmin. He and the Dove Healthcare staff worked with our family as a team to provide David with a positive experience.

We are excited to announce the recipients of Dove Healthcare's 9th Annual $2,500 Sandy Rasmussen Scholarship Award. Congratulations to Khloie Cherek, LPN at Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire and Lilly Spaeth, CNA at Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center!

This scholarship was created in honor and appreciation of Sandy Rasmussen, a dedicated, hard-working, and compassionate employee of Dove Healthcare - Rutledge Home for over 50 years! Sandy served in a variety of roles over the years, from resident assistant to nutritional services director. She has also served her community through countless hours fundraising for the Alzheimer's Association and American Cancer Society.

Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Evan Hong shared, "Khloie and Lilly embody Sandy's energy, kindness, and dedication to caring for those who depend on us. It is our honor to support them as they further pursue their education and careers in healthcare."

Khloie is currently studying nursing at Chippewa Valley Technical College and Lilly is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to study biology.

We recently partnered with Wisconsin Bike Fed to host a Cycling Without Age Trishaw Pilot Training session at Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire! Several of our team members from various locations spent the day learning the basics of operating a trishaw bike, before getting out and honing their skills on a closed course, and rounding out the day with some road cycling. Dove Healthcare houses several trishaws across Western Wisconsin, and we are so proud to be able to keep seniors cycling throughout our communities. A special thank you to trainers Bill Fehrenbach and Linda Soltis-Schroeder for showing us the ropes!
