Reading with a toddler may not look like quietly finishing an entire book. They may turn pages too quickly, point to one favorite picture, wander away, or ask to hear the same story repeatedly.
All of this still supports early literacy.
Keep books within reach and make reading part of everyday routines, such as bedtime, meals, or waiting for an appointment. Let your toddler choose the book, name the pictures they point to, make animal sounds, ask simple questions, and allow them to move while they listen.
Even a few minutes at a time can help build vocabulary, attention, and a positive connection with books.
