As we celebrate this Fourth of July, I’ve been reflecting on the ideas of freedom, resilience, recovery, and community.
In behavioral health, especially at a psychiatric hospital, I’m reminded almost every day that some of the most meaningful work happens quietly, behind the scenes, and sometimes in a rather thankless manner. It happens when someone works directly with a patient that's taking that first step toward healing, when someone finds hope, or when of our amazingly dedicated team members show compassion during those difficult moments.
I’m incredibly grateful for the people who make that work possible every day, including our providers, nurses, social workers, kitchen staff, support crew, and everyone in between. I've beaten this drum before, and I'll say it again; I'm immensely grateful for the team we've assembled. Each one of them, regardless of their position, contributes so much!
As the holiday weekend approaches, I'd like to very sincerely wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and happy Independence Day.
