Sometimes kids are not avoiding homework… they just need more movement to help their bodies focus 💛

This sweet girl was having a hard time sitting at the table during homework time, so her therapist introduced a therapy ball to give her body the movement and sensory input it was craving.

And look at the difference ✨

For many children with sensory processing challenges, ADHD, autism, or difficulty with attention and regulation, movement can actually HELP the brain focus and learn.

➡️Bouncing, rocking, and active sitting can support:
🟡 Attention and focus
🟡 Core strength and posture
🟡 Sensory regulation
🟡 Participation during school tasks

The best part⁉️

What once felt frustrating suddenly became fun, successful, and confidence building.

✅Sometimes small changes create BIG breakthroughs for kids 💟

“Why can my child focus on screens… but struggles with reading and schoolwork?” 👀

➡️Poor visual attention and visual tracking skills can impact more than parents realize.

🧐Kids may lose their place while reading, skip words, struggle copying from the board, avoid homework, or become frustrated during learning activities.

➡️These challenges are often connected to how the eyes work together and process visual information.

✅The good news?

Visual skills can be supported through play and targeted activities.

🎯 Spot the Difference Games:

Helps improve visual scanning, visual attention, focus, and attention to detail.

🃏 Memory Matching Games:

Supports visual memory, eye tracking, concentration, and learning readiness skills.

👏🏼We’re excited to partner with Vision Care and Therapy Center inside Kidz Community to help families better understand visual processing, eye coordination, and how vision impacts success in school, play, and everyday life.

What is the most underrated tool parents already have in their homes? 👇

Drop your answer below because for us… it might just be PLAYDOUGH.

Playdough is more than a fun activity. It can support so many developmental skills while still feeling like play to kids.

Here are 4 easy ways to use it at home:

1️⃣ Hand Strength
Squeezing, rolling, and pulling playdough helps strengthen the small muscles in the hands needed for coloring, dressing, and handwriting.

2️⃣ Sensory Exploration
Some kids avoid messy textures while others seek them out constantly. Playdough gives children a safe and playful way to explore different sensory input at their own pace.

3️⃣ Fine Motor Skills
Try hiding beads, coins, or small toys inside. Kids practice pinching, pulling, and using both hands together while they play.

4️⃣ Imagination and Language
Making pretend food, animals, or silly creations encourages storytelling, creativity, and communication during play.

The best part?

➡️Most kids do not even realize they are building skills because they are too busy having fun.

Why did we become speech therapists?

✅ To help kids be able to make that friend

✅ So kids can get they toy out of reach

✅ And so kids can be apart of the conversation

➡️Speech means communication in what ever works best for your son or daughter.

💖Not all speech is spoken but Love is the universal language we all share.

💟May is SPEECH MONTH!!! Go tell your speech therapist how much you appreciate them!

Now accepting Gestalt Language Therapy appointments
At Kidz Therapy Networks

📈Research shows Over 80% of our kids with autism has a form of Gestalt Language which is repeating scripted phrases over and over.

🧐These scripts are often connected to an emotion being felt at the same time we saw or heard a specific phrase.

🗣️The phrases rarely mean what is being said but rather the memory connected to a feeling.

🤨When phrases are hard to understand or they get in the way of actually living life we need some help.

BUT, when we can understand our kids.

Help them be seen and heard, something magic happens.

We are able to connect with our own children and that when parenting really takes off!

➡️Gestalt Language Therapy follows a specific approach and we want to teach you!
