1st Defense CWP

I’m a responsible, law-abiding gun owner. I train regularly, carry daily, and believe in being prepared to protect myself and my family if the unthinkable happens.

I believe most responsible gun owners share that same mindset. We don’t carry because we’re looking for trouble. We carry because we understand that trouble can find us when we least expect it.

So here’s a question for those who oppose civilian gun ownership:

If you were in a crowded mall and a violent person showed up intending to carry out a mass shooting, would you rather be there with a responsible, trained, legally armed citizen nearby—or be there completely on your own?

You may disagree with my decision to carry a fi***rm. You have every right to that opinion. But I hope we can agree on one thing: protecting innocent lives matters.

Being armed doesn’t make anyone a hero, and carrying a gun doesn’t guarantee a good outcome. Training, sound judgment, and knowing when not to act are just as important as owning a fi***rm.

I choose to be prepared, not helpless.

Your draw is the part of the fight you control completely. It costs nothing to train and almost nobody does it.

SAFETY FIRST. Unload the weapon. Remove all am******on from the room. Check the chamber. Then check it again. Point at a safe backstop that would stop a round.

THE DRILL — 10 minutes
Set a par time of 1.5 seconds.
Concealed, hands relaxed at your sides, garment down.
On the beep: clear the garment, build your full firing grip in the holster, drive straight to the target, front sight/dot on target, press.

15 reps concealed.
15 reps strong hand only.

100 reps this week. Comment DONE when you've logged them.

There’s a clip going around of a guy at the range drawing from concealment and putting fast rounds on target.

Then a cop standing behind him says, “Yeah… but mine were all headshots.”

And that comment exposes one of the biggest misunderstandings people have about self-defense shooting.

Headshots are not the flex people think they are.

Anybody can hit a head if you give them enough time. But self-defense is not about taking your time and stacking perfect holes on a paper target.

It’s about stopping a threat as fast as humanly possible.

So I put it on a timer.

Headshots vs. center mass.

At close distance, the headshots were slower and messier. At ten yards, pushing for the head caused rounds to come completely off target.

And in real life, a miss is not just a miss.

It’s a wall.

A car.

A house.

Or an innocent person who had nothing to do with the fight.

That’s why responsible self-defense training focuses on acceptable accuracy, combat accuracy, and putting fast, effective hits into the area most likely to stop the threat.

The goal is not to kill.

The goal is to stop the threat and go home.
