Just a reminder to do tick checks after playing outside, especially near tall grasses or wooded areas! Common areas for attachment that are tough to see initially are scalp, behind the ears, and body creases such as under the arms or groin. Light colored clothing with long pants tucked into socks when hiking in the woods can help avoid bites, with bug spray that has tick repellant.
A deer tick/black legged tick can carry Lyme Disease; other types of ticks do not carry Lyme but can rarely transmit other types of disease. If your child has been bitten by a deer/blacklegged tick, you can call the office to see if they need any treatment.
