In many cases, the answer is yes. While every child develops at their own pace, a delay in reaching milestones doesn't always signal a lifelong disability.

With early intervention, such as speech, physical, or occupational therapy, many children can bridge the gap and reach the same milestones as their peers.

These targeted supports are designed to stimulate brain health and functional growth during critical periods of development.

Early identification is the most effective way to ensure your child has the tools they need to thrive.

A common misconception is that dementia is exclusively a condition of the elderly. While age is a significant risk factor, younger-onset dementia can affect individuals in their 30s, 40s, or 50s. This reality highlights the importance of proactive brain health monitoring for all adults.

Research indicates that about 5% to 6% of people with Alzheimer’s disease develop symptoms before age 65. Because it is often misattributed to stress or career burnout, a neuropsychological evaluation is essential for an accurate diagnosis. Understanding these early changes allows for better management and support during a person’s most active years.

Recent research from the State University of Campinas has revealed a significant link between weight training and brain protection in older adults. The study followed individuals with mild cognitive impairment who participated in weight training twice a week.

The results were remarkable: participants showed protection against atrophy in the hippocampus and praecuneus, brain areas often associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, there were improvements in verbal episodic memory and the integrity of white matter.

This suggests that resistance exercise does more than just build muscle; it stimulates growth factors that help neurons survive. As a cost-effective, non-pharmacological intervention, weight training is a powerful tool for maintaining cognitive health.
