Targeted Deep Tissue Massage Isn’t About “Beating Up” the Muscle
A lot of people think deep tissue means the therapist just digs as hard as possible until the client survives the session.
That’s not the goal.
Targeted deep tissue massage is focused work aimed at specific areas of muscle tension, restriction, and overuse. It is not about causing unnecessary pain. It is about working deeper layers of muscle in a controlled, intentional way to help the body loosen up and move better.
Tight neck?
Shoulders locked up?
Low back tension?
Glutes and hips feeling stuck?
Knots that keep coming back?
Those are the kinds of areas targeted deep tissue work can help address.
A good session should include communication, proper pressure, and a plan. Some areas may feel tender, but massage should not feel like punishment. More pressure is not always better. The right pressure, in the right area, at the right time, is what matters.
If your body has been working hard, lifting, driving, standing, training, or carrying stress, targeted deep tissue massage may be exactly what your muscles need.
