repost from After 25 years with limited options for UV filters, the FDA has approved bemotrizinol (BEMT), and consumers will have more choices when it comes to strong UVA protection.

EWG research found that U.S. sunscreens deliver, on average, just 24% of the UVA protection their SPF labels imply. BEMT directly addresses that problem.

TLDR on BEMT:
✅Provides strong broad-spectrum protection against UVA & UVB rays
✅Is stable and does not break down in the sun
✅Has very minimal skin absorption
✅Has no evidence of carcinogenicity or reproductive harm in animal studies

Tap the link in EWG bio and original post for the full BEMT breakdown, and follow for updates as BEMT products hit store shelves.

Dr. Louisa Nicola says the most powerful intervention we have to slow the progression of brain-related diseases is surprisingly simple:

Exercise.

A sedentary lifestyle doesn’t just affect your muscles or your waistline.

It affects your brain.

According to research, regular exercise, especially aerobic exercise, can help:
• Support the growth of new brain cells
• Strengthen connections between neurons
• Improve blood flow to the brain
• Enhance cognitive function
• Reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline

Studies have even shown that exercise may increase the size and connectivity of brain regions involved in memory and learning.

Dr. Nicola emphasizes that exercise isn’t optional for brain health.

It’s essential.

Just like brushing your teeth protects your oral health…

Regular movement should be treated as brain hygiene.

The bigger lesson:

If you care about protecting your memory, maintaining cognitive performance, and supporting long-term brain health…

You have to make exercise a non-negotiable part of your life.

Move your body.

Your future brain will thank you.

Every day, we are exposed to more toxins than ever before. Synthetic skin care is loaded with hidden chemicals that are silently building up in our bodies.

Instead of just grabbing the sale sunscreen, take a minute to choose wisely.

Apps like Yuka, Think Dirty, and EWG are most commonly called ingredient scanners, product safety apps, or barcode scanners. They are designed to analyze product barcodes or ingredient lists, providing a safety rating based on potential toxins, allergens, or nutritional value.

I like to do my research at home before hitting the store so usually put "EWG verified sunscreens" in my search to look for safe products.

You can also search EWG's Guide to Sunscreens. 😉🌞

Can YOU relate? While perimenopause and menopause are no laughing matter, I think we need to realize we are not alone and sometimes humor helps. 😉

Years ago, I loved shopping regularly at a popular candle, lotion, and fragrance store. I was guilty of regularly purchasing and exposing my family to fragrances with toxic chemicals. Not anymore.

We were recently on vacation and I found this in our room. I unplugged it and tossed it aside. When you know better, you do better. Ditch ALL artificial fragrances in your home to reduce exposure to toxic chemicals.

Several chemicals frequently detected in plug-ins, are classified as hazardous air pollutants and known human carcinogens. Because the hidden ingredient lists in synthetic plug-ins vary, health organizations like the American Lung Association advise limiting or completely eliminating the use of artificial air fresheners inside your home to protect your long-term lung and hormonal health. 😉

created National Go Barefoot Day after the 2004 Tsunami disaster to support those affected by the event.

You'd probably be surprised to know that even today, shoes are one of the hardest things to get in poorer countries. An estimated 300 million children around the world don't have shoes at all.

Consider donating slightly loved/outgrown shoes to an organization like this. You can visit the organization website for more information on how you can bring shoes to children across the world or even host a shoedrive in your community.

Yesterday I spent a few hours earning my CPR recertification. I'm sharing this in hopes that maybe others are willing to give a little of their time to train and become certified in these lifesaving skills, not just to help strangers in an emergency but YOUR OWN FAMILY MEMBERS! Too many people stand by and watch or record a person in need without stepping up to make a difference. Every second counts!

You don't have to be a health coach, fitness instructor, or working in the medical field to become CPR certified.

If you want the knowledge to recognize the difference between someone having a heart attack(circulation problem), stroke (brain Problem), going into cardiac arrest (Electrical Problem), or choking, and saving the life of a loved one, I highly recommend getting trained and certified.

I think one of the best things you can do to show your love for family members is being CPR trained and certified to help in an emergency. You can search CPR training through the American Heart Association ❤️, American Red Cross, or American Emergency Response Training.

Humans need salt to survive but excess salt found in packaged foods and added at restaurants can lead to high blood pressure and higher risk of stroke. Most people are familiar with this.

Most people AREN'T aware that cardiologists are increasingly recognizing SUGAR as a major culprit in raising blood pressure, rivalling the impact of salt.

Excess sugar is bad for your blood pressure and stroke risk primarily because it triggers chronic inflammation, damages blood vessels, and promotes weight gain.

Before you add a pill to lower your blood pressure, talk with your primary care physician about lowering added salts and sugar.
