You can… you should… and if you start, you will. 🌱💚

How often do you actually get to speak without someone interrupting, giving unsolicited advice, or trying to "fix" it right away?

Taking that first step to open up can feel hard, but having a safe, non-judgmental space to express what’s on your mind changes everything. You don't have to have it all figured out before you speak.

If you need space to vent, reflect, and just be heard: 💬 Text “I talk, you listen” to +1 (256) 387-7185

**This text line is for non-emergency inquiries and scheduling support. It is not monitored 24/7 and is not a crisis response service. Texting this number does not establish a formal therapist-client relationship.

In an emergency: If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call/text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline immediately.

Something happens.
The brain interprets it.
The body reacts.

When thinking traps are running the show, that middle step—the interpretation—can get distorted. Thoughts like “If I can’t do it perfectly, there’s no point in trying,” or

“Everyone else is handling life better than I am,” start to feel like facts.

Awareness is the first step. Once you can spot a pattern and say, “Oh, that’s my all‑or‑nothing thinking,” or “This is my catastrophizing voice talking,” you have more room to pause, zoom out, and ask, “What else could be true here?”

If you’d like a simple guide to the 10 most common thinking traps and questions to work with them, you can download the free mini‑guide: 10 Thinking Traps That Intensify Stress and Overthinking.

⭐️ Cognitive distortions are habitual, irrational thought patterns that skew how we interpret reality, often fuelling anxiety, depression, and stress. They are automatic, exaggerated ways of thinking that make situations seem worse than they are, and learning to recognise them is the first step toward reframing thoughts more constructively. Cognitive distortions are inaccurate or biased ways of thinking that negatively influence emotions and behaviours. While occasional distorted thinking is normal, repeated patterns reinforce negative beliefs and emotional distress.
