Today was a special day as we recognized Cherokee Elders Day by celebrating our residents of Cherokee descent and honoring the heritage, history, and traditions they represent.

There is so much wisdom held within the stories and experiences of our elders. Their lives are a connection between generations, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to know them, learn from them, and care for them each day.

We are proud to be part of a community so deeply rooted in Cherokee history and culture, and even more honored to care for elders who are a part of that legacy. To our Cherokee elders at Sylva Valley — we see you and we celebrate you today and everyday 💚

And a special thanks to Nikki’s Frybread for the special meals for our honored residents today and then treats for all!

🇯🇵🌸 Armchair Travel: Destination JAPAN! 🌸🇯🇵

Today our Armchair Travelers packed their imaginary bags and headed all the way to Japan! ✈️🌏🇯🇵

We spent the afternoon learning about Japanese culture and traditions, exploring famous sights, and discovering fun facts about this beautiful country. From Mount Fuji 🗻 and cherry blossoms 🌸 to origami, tea ceremonies 🍵, bullet trains 🚅 and Japanese cuisine 🍜 — there was plenty to see and learn!

Our Armchair Travel Series continues to be such a fun way to experience different places, cultures, foods, and traditions — all without ever leaving Sylva Valley! ❤️Another stamp in our passport! 🛂✨

Friday Fun 🎶🕺

We started the day with an outing with some of our 400 Hall Crew to the Department on Aging for an Elvis event! 🎤⚡ Special thanks to Kate for the invite! Our crew enjoyed some good food, great music, dancing, and plenty of fun. There’s nothing like a little Elvis to get everyone moving! 🕺💃

Then we brought the party back home for “Boogie in the Breeze”! ☀️🎶 Our very own emcee Paul kept the tunes coming while everyone enjoyed the music, trivia, fresh air, and more dancing! Thank you Paul! A Friday well spent! 💚
