Today was bigger than volunteerism it was community in action. 💜

In honor of United Way of CNY’s Day of Caring, we were blessed to welcome an incredible team of volunteers, community partners, and supporters who braved the summer heat to help prepare our newest House of Psalms 23 Supportive Housing & Independence Program apartment for its next resident.

Together, we transformed the entryway garden, assembled dressers and dining room furniture from the ground up, cleaned and prepared the apartment, and helped create a warm, welcoming space where one woman returning home from incarceration will soon begin the next chapter of her life.

This is what hope looks like. This is what second chances look like. Every flower planted, every screw tightened, and every hour volunteered helped build more than an apartment it helped build a foundation for healing, dignity, and independence.

A heartfelt thank you to United Way of Central New York Way of CNY for organizing such an impactful Day of Caring, and to every volunteer who chose to spend your day serving our mission. Your kindness will have a lasting impact far beyond today.

🏡 BIG NEWS! House of Psalms 23 has officially secured five supportive housing units 🎉

Now we’re asking our amazing community to help us turn these spaces into homes. We’re collecting bedding, towels, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, pantry staples, kitchen essentials, and other household necessities for the women and families we’ll be serving.

At House of Psalms 23, Juneteenth represents freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equity and opportunity for all.

In honor of this important day, our Digital Literacy Apprentice, Shamirra Hordge, walked throughout our office asking staff what Juneteenth means to them, capturing reflections that highlight the power of remembrance, growth, and community.

Today, marks the beginning of our celebrations for the strength of those who came before us and remain committed to empowering individuals through education, advocacy, and second chances.
