A new needle-free option for treating anaphylaxis is now available. 👃

Intranasal epinephrine (neffy®) was approved by the FDA as the first nasal spray treatment for severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, offering an alternative to traditional epinephrine auto-injectors.

St. Joseph’s Health otolaryngologist Dr. Haidy Marzouk recently authored a guest article for the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery discussing this new treatment and its potential to improve access and adherence for patients at risk of anaphylaxis.

📣 Provider Recruitment Team Spotlight: OBGYN National Conference Outreach

To support our health care system’s ongoing physician recruitment efforts, the Provider Recruitment team continues to maintain a strong national presence at specialty‑specific conferences, engaging directly with clinicians in some of our most difficult‑to‑recruit areas. In 2026, our national recruitment focus is centered on Cardiology, OB/GYN, and Psychiatry-all specialties currently experiencing significant physician shortages nationwide.

By attending national conferences, the Provider Recruitment team is able to connect face‑to‑face with practicing physicians, residents, and advanced practice providers, increasing awareness of Trinity Health of New York as an employer of choice while building early relationships to support both current and future workforce needs.

As part of this strategy, Jennifer Terk, Physician Recruiter supporting St. Peter's Health Partners in Albany, and Kristen Muzik, Physician Recruiter for St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, recently represented our organization at the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists - ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, held in May in Washington, DC. The conference provided an opportunity to connect directly with practicing and resident physicians, as well as certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners, through engagement at a recruitment table in the exhibit hall.

During the conference, Jennifer and Kristen promoted OB/GYN physician openings across our Auburn, Syracuse, Troy, and Albany locations, as well as midwifery opportunities in Albany, Troy, Syracuse, and Schenectady. These conversations allowed the team to highlight the breadth of opportunities available within St. Peter’s Health Partners and St. Joseph’s Health while showcasing the benefits of practicing within Trinity Health of New York.

In addition, the team actively promoted a newly approved Early‑Sign Resident Recruitment Incentive for OB/GYN residents, designed to engage physicians while they are still in training. This program offers residents an opportunity to commit early to a full‑time employed position with St. Peter’s Health Partners or St. Joseph’s Health, providing financial support during training in exchange for a future employment commitment. This innovative incentive represents a new recruitment strategy being marketed and promoted by the Physician Recruitment team to strengthen long‑term pipelines in highly competitive specialties.

National outreach efforts such as ACOG play a critical role in increasing visibility, building meaningful relationships, and proactively addressing workforce challenges through strategic, relationship‑based recruitment.

In honor of Memorial Day, St. Joseph's Health has three Missing Man Tables set at the Hospital. 🪑🕯️❤️ Sometimes referred to as the “Fallen Comrade Table,” is meant to remind viewers of those fallen, missing, or imprisoned U.S. Military Service Members.

The symbolism of the Missing Man Table:
The table is round, to show our everlasting concern for our missing men.
The cloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.
The single red rose; displayed in a vase, reminds us of the lives of these Americans and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith while seeking answers.
The red ribbon symbolizes our continued determination to account for our missing.
A slice of lemon reminds us of their bitter fate; captured and missing in a foreign land.
A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears of our missing and their families who long for answers after decades of uncertainty.
The lighted candle reflects our hope for their return, alive or dead.
The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain us and those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God.
The glass is inverted, symbolizing their inability to share a toast.
The chair is empty, the seat that remains unclaimed at the table.
