A huge thank you to the students, faculty, and staff at Upstate Medical University and all of our community partners who helped make Playmakers Healthcare Academy: Student Athletes Exploring Healthcare Careers possible!

With support from grant funding, we had the opportunity to introduce student-athletes from across Central New York to the many career pathways available in healthcare.

Inspired by AHEC Scholar Lydia Lanski, MS3, and supported by Lauren Wetterhahn and the Path Program, we developed a six-week, hands-on program that allowed 24 students to explore the intersection of athletics, health, and healthcare careers.

Throughout the program, students participated in:

🩺 Suturing & IV Skills with AHEC Scholars Lydia Lanski, Hunter Dean, Sarah Hoh, and Upstate Medical students Danielle Wilhelm, Alexander Bleau, and Sean McBride
🏥 Upstate Tour & Healthcare Career Pathways with Lauren L. Meyer
🥗 Sports Nutrition with Syracuse University's Jessica Garay and Maria Erdman
💪 Physical Therapy with Julie Lombardi
🩻 Medical Imaging with Kerry Greene-Donnelly
🚑 Emergency Medicine with Stan Goettel's team at the EM-STAT Center
🏋️ Workout Session at Urban Life Athletics

We are grateful to everyone who volunteered their time, expertise, and resources to give these students meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Thank you for investing in our students and our region's future healthcare professionals!

We're incredibly grateful to the Le Moyne College Physician Assistant Program for partnering with us to host MASH Camp for the second year in a row! 🎉

This year's camp brought together nearly 40 middle school students from seven counties across Central New York to explore exciting careers in healthcare through interactive, hands-on learning.

A special thank you to the Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling students who shared their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm with our campers.

Together, they led engaging activities including:
🦴 Organizing a skeleton
🧠 Building a spine
❤️ Taking vital signs
💬 Exploring mental health
🛠️ Using occupational therapy tools
🌮 Creating a low-sodium taco seasoning blend in our "Spice Lab"

Thank you to everyone who helped inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. We can't wait to do it again next year!
