Pelvic floor physical therapy goes beyond the treatment room.

While movement and hands-on care are important, education is often just as powerful. Understanding your body, pelvic health, and the many factors that influence healing can help you feel more confident, informed, and connected to your care.

That’s why our therapists often share books, podcasts, and trusted resources with patients—tools that support learning, spark insight, and encourage lasting wellness beyond each session.

📚 We're adding to our "Therapist Must Reads" series, where we’re sharing some of the resources our team frequently recommends and loves. Second up: Angie’s must-reads for patients.

From menopause and nervous system health to adolescent development and healing from long-term stress, these books open the door to meaningful conversations and deeper understanding. You can visit the link tree in bio for direct links to each of her suggested reads to learn more!

Pelvic floor physical therapy goes far beyond the treatment table. It’s not just about exercises—it’s about helping you better understand your body, your pelvic health, and the many factors that influence your overall well-being.

Education is a powerful part of the healing process, which is why our physical therapists often recommend books, podcasts, and other trusted resources to help patients continue learning outside of their sessions. These tools can offer valuable insight, foster confidence, and support lasting change.

In this new series, we’re sharing some of our therapists’ favorite reads and listens—the resources they frequently recommend to help patients feel more informed, empowered, and connected to their health.

Starting with Emily Hedrick, PT, DPT, her must-reads are:

📚Come As You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your S*x Life by Emily Nagoski, Ph.D.

📚The Va**na Bible: The V***a and the Va**na - Separating the Myth from the Medicine by Dr. Jen Gunter.

📚Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski, Ph.D and Amelia Nagoski, DMA. Burnout.

Have you ready any of these books before? Comment below what you gained by reading. If you're interested in learning more about these reads, visit the link in bio for our Linktree and check out a synopsis for each!

Not all care is created equal—and we’re okay saying that out loud.

At Madrona, there are a few things you’ll never experience here:
❌ Being just another name on a schedule
❌ A plan of care dictated by insurance instead of your goals
❌ Treatment that ignores the bigger picture
❌ Care that stops at “feeling better” instead of helping you stay better

We believe your body deserves more attention, more intention, and more support than that.
Because real healing happens when you’re seen, heard, and treated as a whole person.
