Last week, members of the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority team were honored to welcome and support the Canoe Journey as it came through our community.

Every Canoe Journey tells a story of connection. It is a time to honor tradition, welcome one another, and celebrate the relationships that unite Tribal Nations and communities throughout our region.

We're grateful to be part of those connections. Every day, we have the privilege of serving our patients and walking alongside our community through life's milestones and challenges. Wellness is about people, culture, and caring for one another.

๐ŸŒˆ One of our favorite community events each year is the Puyallup Tribe Pride Celebration, and we were honored to join the celebration again last weekend!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to visit with us, learn about our services, ask questions, and connect with our team. We always appreciate opportunities to meet community members outside the clinic.

๐Ÿ’™ At Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, our mission is to provide quality healthcare and promote wellness in a culturally appropriate manner. That means recognizing that every patient brings their own experiences, traditions, identities, and needs. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Thank you to the Puyallup Tribe for hosting another wonderful Pride celebration. We are grateful to have been part of it and look forward to seeing everyone again next year! ๐ŸŒˆ

July 24 is International Self Care Day.
Self-compassion is a vital component in self-care. Prioritize โ€˜me-timeโ€™ in your routine. This is important to help you relax and reflect on daily living. It is especially important if youโ€™re feeling burnt out or stressed.

The crowd fell silent as the final steel beam was lifted high into the air.

Then, a brilliant flash of lightning lit the sky, followed by a resounding clap of thunder just as the crew set the beam into place.

To many gathered there, it was a powerful reminder that our ancestors were with us, witnessing this important moment alongside our community.

Following a few words from Tribal Council Member Annette Bryan and Executive Director David Tonemah, construction crew members, PTHA employees, patients, and visitors braved the rain to watch the final beam of the office building expansion lifted and set into place. The beam carries with it signatures and messages of hope for the future, written by PTHA employees, patients, and visitors the day before.

This expansion represents our continued commitment to our patients and community as we celebrate 50 Years of Care and look ahead to the next 50 years and beyond. We honor the generations who helped build PTHA and remain dedicated to creating a place where future generations can continue to receive quality, culturally appropriate care.
