Sometimes the smallest muscles
make a big difference.

The seated banded tibialis posterior
helps strengthen a key muscle
that supports your arch and helps
improve foot and ankle control.
That can make a difference in
walking, running, and single-leg
movements where stability matters.

A stronger foundation starts
at the foot.

Ever feel like your ankles
or feet just do not feel
as stable as they should?

Comment STRENGTH and let’s
find the right approach for you.

Making an exercise harder doesn’t automatically make it more effective.

It depends on why you’re doing the exercise in the first place.

Sometimes we’re training maximum strength.

Other times we’re working on stability, mobility, coordination, or simply teaching the body to control a movement better.

In the clamshell example, pushing as hard as possible can start bringing in more global muscle effort. That might make the exercise feel harder, but it can also move us away from the specific training effect we were looking for.

Before adding another band, heavier resistance, or more load, ask:

What am I actually trying to improve?

Strength?
Stability?
Control?
Mobility?

There’s a time to load heavy.

There’s also a time to slow down and make the movement cleaner.

Match the exercise to the goal.

Getting into a better position is only part of the process.

You can improve mobility and gain access to more range, but if your body doesn’t know how to control that new position, it may not translate into better movement.

That’s where strength, stability, and movement control come in.

The goal isn’t just to get your body into a position.
It’s to teach your body how to feel strong, confident, and capable there.

That’s how better mobility becomes better movement.

Squat. Drive. Press. One movement, full-body challenge. 💪

The landmine press squat combines lower-body strength with an upper-body press while challenging your core to stay strong and controlled.

HOW TO:

1. Stand facing the landmine with your feet about shoulder-width apart.

2. Hold the end of the bar at chest height with both hands.

3. Brace your core and keep your chest tall.

4. Sit your hips down and back into a controlled squat.

5. Drive through your feet to stand back up.

6. As you stand, press the bar forward and overhead.

7. Bring the bar back to your chest with control.

Reset and repeat.

Keep the movement smooth so the squat and press work together as one controlled motion.

More Mobility Isn’t Always Better

Feeling tight doesn’t always mean the answer is more stretching.

Sometimes we get so focused on gaining range of motion that we forget about what happens after we get there: Can your body actually control that new range?

In the clinic, there are times when opening up a restricted area can initially feel great, but if the body doesn’t have enough stability to support that movement, symptoms may start to flare.

That’s why mobility and stability shouldn’t be treated as opposites. They work together.

Sometimes the next step isn’t to stretch harder. It’s to return to foundational strength and control, then gradually build mobility back in from there.

The goal isn’t simply to move farther.

The goal is to create movement your body can control, tolerate, and use well.

Save this if “more stretching” has always been your first answer to feeling tight.

Feeling “stuck” doesn’t always mean you need to stretch harder.

Limited movement can come from stiffness, weakness, poor control, or your body protecting an irritated area. Forcing more range without knowing what’s actually limiting you can leave you fighting the wrong problem.

The goal isn’t just more mobility. It’s figuring out why the movement feels restricted and addressing what your body actually needs.

Move better. Train smarter. Get to the root of what’s limiting you.

💬 Comment “MOVE” if you want to understand your movement better.

The landmine press squat is more
than a lower body exercise.

It helps build strength through
the legs while also challenging
your shoulders and core to work
together. Because you are squatting
and pressing in one movement,
you are also training coordination,
stability, and total-body control.

The goal is to move with strength
and control from head to toe.

Ever feel like your workouts
need to do more than just
isolate one muscle group?

Comment STRENGTH and let’s
find the right fit for you.

Celebrating Shahram!

After 4 months with us at Physio Performance, it’s time to say goodbye to our DPT intern, Shahram!

Shahram quickly became part of our team — our clients loved working with him, and we loved watching him grow in his confidence and skills as a future PT.

He also gave our team a fantastic in-service on the pelvic floor, bringing new research and clinical knowledge that we can continue to use with our clients. 👏

Shahram, thank you for your hard work, curiosity, and the care you showed our clients every day.

We know you’re going to make an awesome PT, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

Congratulations, Shahram! ❤️💪

Recovery after surgery is not just about getting back to where you were. It’s about rebuilding strength, restoring confidence, and preparing your body for the demands you want to return to.

For Jimmy, that meant working through recovery after surgery for a torn labrum while keeping his goals as a contact athlete in mind. With the right progression and support, he’s been able to make significant progress and continue building toward the level of performance he wants.

At Physio Performance, we believe rehab should prepare you for more than everyday movement. Whether your goal is returning to sport, training harder, or simply feeling stronger in your body, the process should continue beyond pain relief and help build the strength, control, and capacity you need for what comes next.

We’re grateful to be part of your journey, Jimmy. 💙
