September 1st marks the beginning of National Su***de Prevention Month. All month we will be sharing information and resources to promote awarness, remove the stigma, and support su***de prevention.
🤎This is your reminder that community itself can serve as the first line of prevention. All of these different people are just a small sample of the folks in our communities who can be a lifeline for those who might be struggling, including ourselves. Text a friend you haven’t heard from in a while. Ask the person helping you bag your groceries how their day has been. Make the time to visit that elderly relative. Be kind to the stranger sitting at the bust stop with you. Community is a lifeline: find yours, lean on it, pour into it, and help remind yourself and others that nobody is ever alone.

The therapy room isn't culture-neutral — and neither is your clinical theory. 🌍

If you work with clients of the Global Majority (and most of us do), you need more than good intentions. You need frameworks.

Save this, share it with a colleague, and grab your spot at our upcoming Summer Institute where we go deep on ALL of this.

A note from our Clinical Director, Natalie Callely, LMHC
When tragedies like the recent shooting in Seattle happen, it is completely normal to notice an increase in anxiety. You may find yourself avoiding crowds, feeling uneasy about leaving your home, or losing interest in activities that once brought you joy, like festivals, concerts, or community events. These are common responses from a nervous system that is trying to make sense of something frightening and protect you from future harm. While these reactions are understandable, if fear begins to keep you from living the life you want to live, know that support is available. Healing does not mean forgetting what happened. It means learning how to move forward while reconnecting with the people, places, and experiences that matter most to you.
