This is one of the most common negative cycles I see in my work with couples. One partner is desperately trying to be heard, while the other is desperately trying not to feel like a failure. Neither partner wakes up in the morning hoping to hurt the other. Underneath the criticism, defensiveness, shutdown, frustration, and anger are usually two people who feel scared, alone, misunderstood, and disconnected.

The fears we dont face become our limits. 🖤Horned animals have long been associated with the devil. Yet in ancient Europe, they were symbols of fertility, vitality, and the wild forces of nature. As Christianity spread, these pagan symbols were gradually reinterpreted as dangerous or sinful, merging horned gods with the image of the devil to discourage older beliefs. What once represented life, instinct, and the natural world became a warning against desire, chaos, and the untamed.

We still do this to ourselves, turning parts of our nature into something to fear or suppress, not because they are inherently evil, but because we don’t understand their origin, making them uncomfortable to face. When we choose curiosity instead of fear, no matter how painful it might seem, we widen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. It feels scary because its unfamiliar, not because you’re incapable.
