In 2010, former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius visited our office to read with our patients and celebrate our Reach Out and Read partnership πŸ“š

Since then over 65,000 books have been placed in little hands, including 10,000 this year alone❀️!

From 2004, almost every Park Pediatrics well visit from birth to age 5 has ended with an age appropriate book to take home. Early literacy is one of the most powerful gifts we can give our community, and we are just getting started.

Intern spotlight!
Meet Lucy Barrenechea, a rising junior at the University of Michigan studying Neuroscience on the pre-med track, who joined the Park Peds team this summer! Lucy was drawn to Park Pediatrics because she loves working with kids and wants to keep learning what great pediatric care looks like. She's excited to build her documentation skills, see how providers connect with both kids and parents, and help make visits feel a little easier and more positive for families.

Fun fact: Lucy is from Argentina πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· and speaks fluent Spanish!
Outside of school, you'll find Lucy out on a hike or walk, or spending time with family and friends.

Welcome to the team, Lucy and Go Blue!

Tick season is here and reports are showing a record number of tick related ER visits especially in the mid Atlantic/northeast regionsβ€” don’t skip the tick check!

After outdoor play, take 2 minutes to check your child for ticks πŸ‘‡
βœ”οΈ Hair & scalp
βœ”οΈ Behind ears
βœ”οΈ Under arms
βœ”οΈ Behind knees
βœ”οΈ Waist & groin

Ticks are tiny and easy to miss β€” but quick removal helps prevent illness.

πŸ›‘οΈ Protect your kids:
β€’ Use insect repellent
β€’ Wear long sleeves/pants in grassy areas
β€’ Shower after coming indoors

πŸ’¬ When in doubt, check it out!
