I had a comprehensive tour of the beautiful Mizzou campus in late September. Journalism, the business program and the Honors College were particular standouts. The student recreation center ranks number 1 in the country--shiny new work out areas, a lazy river pool, leather chairs for lounging, spa services, etc.

We stopped at Transylvania & Berea Colleges in Kentucky on our way to St. Louis. Both are small liberal arts colleges, but are very different. Berea was founded to serve the needs of Appalachian students, and is very mission driven. Berea is tuition free and all students work at least 10 hours a week in campus and service jobs. Transylvania University is located in a charming neighborhood in Lexington and offers 40 majors and several unique interdisciplinary majors, such as "Philosophy, Politics and Economics."

I visited St. Mary's College of Maryland on a beautiful spring day. One of only two honors colleges in the U.S., Maryland residents are lucky to have this more affordable small liberal arts college as an option.

The University of Pennsylvania Law School is noted for its cross-disciplinary approach. Many students pursue dual degrees, such as the JD/MBA with the Wharton School.

Pictures from a recent visit to The New School in Greenwich Village! The New School is a consortium that includes programs- Parsons (art & design), COPA (music & drama), and Eugene Lang (small liberal arts college). The school unsurprisingly boasts a very artsy and sophisticated student body, and a stunning new student center provides a much needed central gathering, performing and dining space for students!
