☀️Motor Development Milestones

Watching your little one reach new milestones is one of the most exciting parts of parenting! While every child develops at their own pace, understanding typical milestone rangers can help you know what to expect.

Today we're highlighting three important gross motor milestones:

🔄 Rolling: Typically developed around 4-6 months
🧸 Sitting: Often happens around 6-8 months.
🚼 Crawling: Often begins around 8-10 months
🚶🏻‍♀️Walking: Many children take their first steps between 12-14 months

Remember, every child is unique, and milestones can vary. If you ever have questions about your child's development, our team is here to provide guidance and support.

Saint Claire specializes in self-regulation & sensory-motor strategies. She has a service history providing direct therapeutic care for pediatric clients aged 0-21 in Florida & community-based/built programs for people aged 0-100+ worldwide. She is passionate about providing general lifestyle & occupational therapy services to families who do not receive person-centered services otherwise. Saint Claire is excited to be a part of the Tallahassee care team.💛

☀️ Meet the Therapist: Caitlin Boland, M.S., CCC-SLP

We’re excited to introduce Caitlin Boland, one of our dedicated Speech-Language Pathologists here at Sunny Pediatric Services! Fun fact: Caitlin has been with us for over five years!

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Caitlin earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University.

Caitlin has experience working with children in the public school setting and enjoys helping little ones strengthen their communication skills. She has experience supporting children with:
🗣️ Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
🔤 Articulation & phonological disorders
📚 Receptive & expressive language

She has also received specialized training in the DIR/Floortime® Model, a relationship-based approach that supports children’s communication, social-emotional development, and play skills. In addition to that, she specializes in early language as well.

Caitlin is passionate about partnering with children and their families to help each child build confidence and reach their communication goals. She proudly serves families in Tallahassee, Monticello, and the surrounding areas, and we’re so grateful to have her as part of the Sunny team! 💛

Welcome!☀️

Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing the members of our team. First up...

Annika Suarez, owner of Sunny Pediatric Services. She is a speech-language pathologist specializing in infant and toddler feeding since 2012. She has extensive training in the evaluation and treatment of infant feeding challenges, including tongue-tie, breastfeeding and bottle difficulties, and oral motor dysfunction. She is also an International Board Certified Lacatation Consultant (IBCLC) and a certified infant massage instructor. Through her work, she supports families in developing safe, effective, and positive feeding experiences for their babies. She serves families throughout Tallahassee, Florida.

Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and an important moment in American history.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As we celebrate this day, we honor strength, contributions, and rich cultural heritage of Black communities while reflecting on the importance of equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
