As we recognize America’s 250th anniversary, we’re taking time to reflect on the history of disability rights across our country and here in Florida.
This year at The Family Café, we were honored to unveil The Florida Disability History Timeline, a new exhibit that highlights key moments, milestones, and advocates who have shaped disability history from 1776 through today. ⭐️
This project was spearheaded by Florida Youth Council (special shoutout to Rebecca Cokley & Carly Fahey!) with support from many incredible partners, including Molina Healthcare. It’s a reminder that the rights, opportunities, and community we continue building today are rooted in generations of advocacy, resilience, and progress. 🤝
As we celebrate this weekend, we also honor those who challenged barriers, changed laws, and helped create a more inclusive future for people with disabilities.
We invite you to pause the video, explore the timeline, and reflect on the history that brought us here. We’re so proud of how this project came together. ❤️
