Dignity is not something a person loses when they move into memory care. It is something that a truly good community actively protects, every single day. ๐ฟ
It shows up in the small things. Being addressed by name. Having preferences respected, even when communication is difficult. Being helped with personal care in a way that is private, patient, and unhurried. Being offered choices, wherever possible, so that a sense of autonomy remains intact even as independence shifts.
For families, knowing that a loved one is being treated with genuine dignity and respect is often the most important reassurance of all. It is not just good care. It is what care is supposed to look like. ๐ธ
