Emily got to start school with all her fellow classmates and she hasnt missed a beat. Her Flex class is for ASL as she wanted to get a head start on her 2 years learning a language since its needed to get i to Universities,specifically she is wotking towards being accepted in UF. She also hopes to graduate high school with her AA degree which she will hopefully start dual enrollment next year.

The day after we got Emilys diagnosis I just happened to see him sitting out by the parking garage. I knew I recognized him but I couldnt place how or where from so I decided to walk up and ask and of course it all became clear. We spoke for a minute about Emilys new cancer diagnosis, as he had asked me what I was there for, and then he asked me if I would mind if he said a prayer with me for her. Of Course! We needed all the prayers we could get. So he stood there and took my hands into his and he prayed for Emily, for me, for our family. For the 1st time in almost 24 hrs I felt like everything was going to be okay even if for just a moment. Truley a blessing and comfort. And dont even get me started on his wife Mrs.Amanda, I would be here typing for an hour. I thank god everyday for the kindness he showed me that night during a moment when it felt like my whole world was crashing. HCSO is definately got them a good one!

Our girl finally got home from SC on Friday so we spent the weekend in Keaton scalloping and letting Emily Jonel ride her SeaDoo. Had a great time with family and lots of delicious food..especially Mr.Henry's pound cake 😋 Needless to say Emily had fun riding her jetski. Adam even let her drive it in from 9 mile sandbar. Thank you Denice Land Hughes and Scott Hughes for letting us spend the weekend with yall. We love you guys so much!! Thank you to my ever so beautiful sister Angela Michalowski for coming and getting our girl and taking care of her the last 2 weeks. I know she enjoyed her time so much up there and getting to see everyone and have some normalcy of her usual summers of going to SC. I love you the mostest 😘

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month 🎗️

Here are a couple facts about sarcoma that you may not be aware of...

- Pediatric sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the bones or soft tissues. Emily's developed in her L2 Verterbrate and wrapped around her spinal cord leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Pediatric Sarcomas account for about 15–20% of childhood cancers.

- the overall five-year survival rate for localized cases is around 70%, but this rate decreases significantly if the cancer spreads to other parts of the body.

- there are over 100 types of sarcomas.

- Ewing sarcoma, one of the rarest childhood cancers, affects only about 200–250 children and adolescents each year in the United States. Our Emily Jonel was one of them. Along with some other amazing kids and young adults we met while staying at the Ronald McDonald house in Jacksonville (shout out to Ally & Delaney!)

Rare cancers like pediatric sarcomas often receive less attention, making awareness and research support especially important.

Pediatric sarcoma may be rare, but its impact is not.

Every diagnosis changes a child’s life and their family’s forever.

Our lives will never be the same.

Sarcoma stole the lasy year of her life.

It stole the future she should have had.

But she is ever strong and I know she will still do wonderous things in this life!
