5 ways I protect my focus when my brain has 147 tabs open 😵‍💫

For a long time I thought I had a focus problem. Turns out I just had too much in my head and no system to keep it safe for me.

Once I started getting it all out — the tasks, the mental to-do list, the 2am “don’t forget” thoughts — my focus sharpened.

Our brains are not storage units, they’re thinking and creative machines, and we need to give it the space to do that.

Here’s my system:
→ empty your head first
→ choose 3 things, not 30
→ batch the little stuff
→ build one real focus block
→ close the loops at night

I spent so many years chasing being as lean as possible. I felt like I was a failure at “being fit” if I didn’t have a 6 pack 🥲

But the older I got, the less I cared about being shredded. I want to be healthy, strong, and capable to live life the way I want.

I want to be able to go on long walks, hikes, rollerblade, run, jump, and be active without thinking twice or worrying.

I want to have the energy to have fun, to be creative, to build something cool.

I want to feel good in my skin and feel confident in my body, not spend every outing adjusting my close or hide in the back of every family photo.

I want to treat myself like I love myself, especially after years of the exact opposite.

If chasing a number on the scale or aesthetic has left you burnt out and stuck in the cycle of starting over every monday, I challenge you to shift your focus. I promise you if you focus on how you feel and what your body can do, the looks will come. But if you only chase the looks, it’s a fragile process.

I’m turning 39 this year, and not long ago I looked around at my (genuinely good) life and thought: is this really how I want to spend the rest of my one life?

The answer was NO.
Not because it’s terrible or anything, but because I’d never actually stopped to define what I wanted for this one, single, precious gift of life we get. I’d just… kept going.

I want a BIG, BEAUTIFUL, I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS MY LIFE kinda life. One where I can surprise my parents with a dream trip to Ireland first class. I can donate a year’s worth of adoption fee and supplies to the local shelter. Take a family vacation to create memories without financial worries. And so much more.

So I built the Dream Life Blueprint: a 6-part framework to define your dream life and start building it, no matter where you’re starting from (and no, it’s never too late!):

You can have the most productive day on paper and still lie down at night feeling like you got nowhere…

Because busy and productive are not the same thing, even though we treat them like they are. You can spend twelve hours in motion (planning, researching, listening to podcasts, writing lists, refining, trying to perfect everything) and none of it moved you an inch closer to the life you actually want.

❌ Busy is doing a lot of things.
✔️ Productive is doing the things that matter and progress you forward.

As someone who used to pride herself on being busy all the time, it’s something I’ve had to learn and implement and adjust in my own life.

Stop being a bad friend to yourself 🫣

You keep waiting to feel confident, swearing it will come once you lose a few pounds or get organized or update your wardrobe.

But confidence doesn’t come from having things, it comes from trust, and evidence that you’ll do what you say you’ll do.

So be honest: how often are you letting yourself down? Breaking your promises again and again? Constantly telling yourself “next time”?
