🌟 Program of the Week: SSM Health Monroe Emergency Medicine Fellowship 🌟

The SSM Health Monroe Emergency Medicine Fellowship is recognized by the American Academy of Emergency Physicians (AAEP), one-year postgraduate program that prepares family physicians for independent practice in rural and community emergency departments.

Highlights include:
🩺 Comprehensive emergency medicine and critical care training
🩻 Advanced point-of-care ultrasound education
🚑 Extensive hands-on procedural experience in an unopposed clinical environment
🎯 High-fidelity simulation and multidisciplinary resuscitation training

🌾 A strong commitment to strengthening emergency care in rural communities

Now training its 12th fellowship class, the program has expanded from one to four fellows annually, with approximately 60% of graduates remaining in Wisconsin to serve rural communities.

🌟Diplomate Spotlight 🌟

Dr. Sarah Gilbert practiced emergency medicine for 35 years before retiring from Heywood Healthcare in Gardner and Athol, MA. She continues to practice medicine for CareSource in Boston as the medical director for their instED Mobile Integrated Health Division. Dr. Gilbert received her emergency medicine certification from the Board of Certification in Emergency Medicine (BCEM) in 1997 and has been actively involved with the organization for almost 30 years, serving in numerous capacities with ABPS, BCEM, and the American Academy of Emergency Physicians (AAEP), including serving as president of ABPS from 2024-2025. She is currently a member of BCEM and the BCEM Oral Exam Committee and serves as co-chair of both the BCEM Credentialing and Written Exam Committees. She is also chair of the Basic Documents Committee and a member of the ABPS Board of Directors.

If you're planning to sit for an ABPS May 2027 Written Examination, be sure to submit your completed application by October 31, 2026.

Eligible specialties include:

✔️ Diagnostic Radiology
✔️ Emergency Medicine (Recertification only)
✔️ Family Medicine Obstetrics
✔️ Integrative Medicine
✔️ Orthopedic Surgery

Need a little more time? Applications will still be accepted through December 1, 2026, but a higher application fee will apply.

Application fees for both initial certification and recertification vary based on the date your completed application is received by ABPS, so applying early can help you avoid additional costs.
