First day back. New routines. New schedules. Maybe a little excitement… and maybe a little anxiety, too.

For students, getting back into the rhythm of school can bring a lot of feelings at once. And for parents, watching your child navigate those feelings can be just as challenging.

The good news? You don’t have to have it all figured out today.

Give yourself and your student some room to adjust. A different bedtime, a nervous morning, or needing a little extra reassurance doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means you’re getting used to something new.

And if today didn’t go exactly as planned? Tomorrow is another chance to try again.

Back to school is a transition for everyone. Be patient with yourself, check in with each other, and remember: you don’t have to navigate the adjustment alone.

Watch this month’s to hear more about back-to-school anxiety, routines, and ways to make the transition a little easier.

Self-care also means taking the time to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and the moments when worry begins to feel like more than everyday stress.

In this month's IYKYK feature, Dr. DeLiberato and Dr. Katzenstein explore what it means when worry doesn't seem to go away, how to tell the difference between everyday stress and something more persistent, and practical ways to care for your mental well-being.

Take a few minutes to watch. Sometimes the most meaningful act of self-care is simply understanding what you're feeling.

Self-care isn't always taking a day off or unplugging. Sometimes it's as simple as taking a moment to ask yourself, "How am I really doing?"

Using a mood tracker can help you notice patterns, better understand your emotions, and build a habit of checking in with yourself. It's a small step that can make a meaningful difference over time.

Because taking care of your mental health starts with paying attention.
