The Cost of Forgetting Ourselves

Time has a way of revealing where our energy goes.

So many of us spend years pouring love into others—showing up, checking in, forgiving, understanding, encouraging, and carrying burdens that were never ours to hold alone. We give our attention freely, our compassion endlessly, and our grace without limits.

But somewhere along the way, we forget to offer those same gifts to ourselves.

We forget to ask who we are beyond the roles we play. Beyond the caretaker, the partner, the parent, the friend. We lose pieces of our identity in the effort to make everyone else feel seen.

Yet freedom begins the moment we turn some of that love inward.

The moment we give ourselves the time we so willingly gave away.
The moment we speak to ourselves with the same kindness we offer others.
The moment we remember that our worth was never meant to depend on how much of ourselves we sacrifice.

You were never meant to disappear inside your love for other people.

Time spent rediscovering yourself is not selfish—it is sacred.

Because the greatest act of balance is learning that you can love others deeply without abandoning yourself in the process. 💫

Yeah we use seat belts, make sure they get to school on time, gift them and so many other things.

But what about the places where they truly need Protection?

✨Some Things Choose Us✨
3 weeks ago , I walked in without my usual mat. I wanted to make sure I got to class on time, so I borrowed one from the studio — something I never mind because everything there is always so clean and cared for.

The mat felt different in the best way. I felt more grounded, more connected, more present in my practice.

After that, somehow that same mat kept showing up in class. Eventually I looked it up online, only to find it sold out everywhere. So I let it go.

Then yesterday, after a rough few weeks, I randomly checked again.

Back in stock.

And honestly, it brightened my whole week.

It reminded me how sometimes we really do need the right mat. The right pair of running shoes. The right song. The right energy to help us reconnect to ourselves and bring curiosity and joy back into activities we can sometimes lose excitement for.

Not because those things fix everything — but because sometimes they help us remember ourselves again.

And maybe some things really do choose us when the timing is right.
