Please try to avoid the words “you” and “you always.” These words will surely take your conversation in a negative direction. Try calling your partner’s first name lovingly instead. This technique dilutes anger. It changes the tone of the conversation.

Culture tells us marriage is about meeting our own needs—for companionship, for s*x, for support—while maintaining our own identity. God tells us marriage is about giving up our own needs in order to meet the needs of our husband or wife. Serve your spouse.

Stop arguing over the small things. Learn to choose healthy compromise over negative confrontation.

The key to your husband's heart is to stop what you are doing, get up close to him, grab both of his hands, and look him in the eyes. Then tell him that you are proud of him, tell him that you respect him, tell him that you honor him, and tell him that you are grateful for the husband and father he is, or is trying to be......and please make sure that you mean what you are saying (he'll know the difference).

If you do this you will have touched the heart of your husband, the very core of him as a man and don't be surprised if you make him cry, while he is doing that back flip for, and because of you.

Healthy and successful relationships value transparency over personal privacy. Operating in the environment of secrecy creates distrust and disunity in the marriage.

In order for a marriage to work, there must be compromise. One spouse can’t always be right and the other can’t always be wrong. There must be a happy medium that works best for both partners.. There can’t be a winner and a loser because WE ARE ONE.

Always strive to give your spouse your very best each day and not your leftovers.

Always find time to pray with your spouse, either in the morning, night etc. Remember spiritual intimacy should be central in your marriage. Spiritual leadership in the home from the husband is vital, to guide the family on their spiritual journey with God's guidance.

We need to respect our spouse’s opinion.Even though he/she may have a different view of the situation at hand, we need to let him/her share his/her thoughts without us interrupting or cutting the conversation off completely. Let’s hear him/her out! Then, we can share our thoughts and keep the line of communication open.
