Christmas is a time that naturally turns us toward what matters most.

Love. Family. Presence. Gratitude. Reflection.

It’s also a gentle reminder of the importance of creating a Life Well Lived — and of tending, with care, to the practical and emotional details that support those we love, now and in the future. Having our wishes known, our affairs in order, and our values clearly expressed is one of the greatest gifts we can give our families.

This season, may we slow down enough to reflect on what truly matters, to live with intention, and to care for one another with honesty and love — in life and in the conversations that help prepare us for its natural transitions.

For the past 14 years, it has been a true privilege to teach at the Alexander Technique Retreat. I feel deeply grateful for the incredible participants I’ve met along the way and for the opportunity to work alongside such gifted, dedicated Alexander Technique teachers. Each year has been a reminder of how rich and alive this Work truly is.

What I’ve witnessed again and again is that the Alexander Technique offers so much more than improved posture or poise. When people immerse themselves in a five-day intensive—held within the beauty and quiet magic of the Serra Retreat Center—the work reaches the whole system. It gently re-regulates from the inside out, supporting clarity, ease, and a deeper sense of self.

As we come together for this final gathering at Serra, I so look forward to celebrating with both longtime friends and those joining us for the first time. I am profoundly grateful to Michael Frederick for his vision and dedication in creating and sustaining these remarkable retreats for over 42 years. What a gift it has been to be part of this journey.
