🤍 For anyone who has spent years treating their body like something that needs to be justified:

"Radical self-love is not a destination you are trying to get to; it is who you already are." — Sonya Renee Taylor

Eating disorder recovery is often described as building self-love from scratch, as though it's a thing to be manufactured. It isn't. It's a thing to be uncovered — buried under years of comparison, dieting, and a culture that profits from your dissatisfaction.

Turning Point of Tampa is one of the few facilities in Florida treating eating disorders, addiction, AND dual diagnosis on a single campus, because these conditions so often travel together. You are not a project to be fixed. You are someone finding your way back. 💙

📗 "We agree that there is nothing shameful about being an addict, provided we accept our dilemma honestly and take positive action." — BT P. 5

Shame is the thing that keeps people sick the longest. It whispers that the problem is who you are, not what you're facing — and that there's no point reaching out, because you'd only be confirming something humiliating.

This line dismantles that. There is nothing shameful here. There is a dilemma, and there is honest action, and between those two things a whole life becomes possible. Getting clean isn't an admission of failure. It's the most self-respecting decision a person can make. 🌿

💨 "It's just water v***r." It isn't — and that single misunderstanding is why so many people never see the addiction coming.

V**e aerosol carries ni****ne, propylene glycol, and heavy metals into the lungs, and the salt-ni****ne formulas used in most devices deliver a dose that hooks the brain faster than ci******es ever did. For teenagers, whose brains are still developing into their mid-twenties, that speed matters enormously.

Ni****ne dependence is a substance use disorder. It responds to real treatment, and there is no shame in needing help to stop. If va**ng has become something you can't put down, that's information — not a character flaw. 💙

📘 "There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest." — P. 58

Written in 1939 — and still one of the most quietly radical lines in the book. It doesn't say those people are hopeless. It doesn't say they don't belong. It says they recover.

That's the heart of dual diagnosis work: when addiction and mental illness travel together, the answer was never to treat one and hope the other sorts itself out. It's to treat both, honestly, at the same time. Honesty is the entry fee — and recovery is genuinely available on the other side of it. 🌅

🏆 Some news we're genuinely proud to share: Tampa Magazine has named Dr. Hardeep Singh a Top Doctor in Addiction Medicine for 2026 — his fifth consecutive year on the list.

What makes this one meaningful is how the list gets built. Top Doctor recognition comes from peer nomination: physicians naming the physicians they'd trust with their own family members. It isn't a popularity contest, and it isn't a paid listing. It's the judgment of the people who do this work beside him.

Dr. Singh has been our Medical Director since 2016. He is Board Certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, Certified in Psychopharmacology, and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

"We couldn't be prouder of Dr. Singh. Five years on this list says everything about how he shows up for our patients and for the rest of the team."
— Peter Johnson, Executive Director

Credentials are worth celebrating, but here's what they actually mean: when someone walks through our doors on the worst day of their life, the medical care waiting for them is exceptional. Congratulations, Dr. Singh — five years running. 💙

🌿 August is National Wellness Month — and in recovery, wellness isn't a bonus. It's the structure that holds everything else up.

"Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others." — Parker Palmer

So many of the people we treat arrived believing rest had to be earned, that taking care of themselves was something they'd get to once everyone else was handled. Addiction and eating disorders both thrive in that belief.

Wellness in recovery looks ordinary: sleep, food, movement, honesty, connection, showing up. It's not glamorous. It's just what keeps a life standing. This month, start with one small act of good stewardship. 💙

🌅 As July closes, a reminder for anyone in the middle of a hard chapter:

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." — Desmond Tutu

Hope isn't pretending the darkness isn't real. It's the quiet, stubborn ability to see the light anyway — and to keep moving toward it. That's what recovery asks of us, and it's what we've watched ordinary people find for nearly four decades.

Wherever this finds you: there is light, there is help, and there is a way forward. Restore Balance. Renew Hope. Rebuild Life. 💙

📗 "From the isolation of our addiction, we find a fellowship of people with a common bond of recovery." — BT P. 98

Today is the International Day of Friendship — and few things capture recovery better than this line. Addiction is so often a story of isolation: walls built quietly, one by one, until you're alone behind them. Recovery is the slow, astonishing reverse — finding people who simply get it, no translation required.

You don't have to keep doing this alone. The opposite of addiction isn't just being clean — it's connection. 🌿

💙 Codependency isn't caring too much. It's losing yourself completely in someone else's problems — until your own needs quietly disappear.

It often begins early, in homes where a child learned that their worth depended on managing everyone else's crises. Over time, it becomes a kind of dance with addiction: the codependent partner tries to help by smoothing, covering, and rescuing — and both people get sicker inside the cycle.

The way out isn't to stop caring. It's to learn to care without erasing yourself — through boundaries, awareness, and support. That's why our family program treats the whole system, not just the person in the bed. Healing one person heals a family. 🌿

📘 "We have learned that whatever the human frailties of various faiths may be, those faiths have given purpose and direction to millions." — P. 49

Recovery doesn't ask you to have it all figured out. It asks something simpler and harder: to be willing to believe your life can have purpose and direction again — even before you can prove it.

For millions of people across generations, that willingness has been the doorway. Not certainty. Not perfection. Just an openness to a life pointed somewhere worth going. Sobriety is where that direction starts to come into focus. 🙏
