Dental assistants, you know the drill. Some days feel like you’ve lived an entire week before lunch!

Here are 3 little things that can help make the day run a bit smoother:

1. Prep before the chaos.
If you have a few quiet minutes, set up rooms, check your trays, and restock the things you know you’ll need. Future-you will be VERY grateful.

2. Communicate, communicate, communicate.
A quick “What do you need from me?” can save so much time (and prevent the dreaded “I thought YOU were doing it” moment 😂).

3. Take the tiny reset.
Even 60 seconds to breathe, drink some water, or laugh with your coworker can make a difference. You can’t pour from an empty suction cup. 😉

This is why I love Fridays!

Not just because I’m not in clinical but because today I get to do all the company projects.

Working to build Digital Dental Assistant Academy has been such a challenge and adventure. It has pushed me so far outside my comfort zone. In a great way.!

And being in the middle of a consulting project has been eye-opening and so much fun at the same time.

So thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given because I started as a Dental Assistant.

We learned in school what a filing setup looks like.
And then we started working in a practice.

It's not the same. Every dentist has their favorite tools and composite.
You need to talk to the dentists and ask how the setup should be done. Correctly.

Don't assume you know, or that someone told you the right way. They might be wrong. Set it up, then ask the dentist to double-check it. Ask if it is how they want it. You may have too much out, even though you always get it out. Maybe they don't want it anymore or realize they don't use it. Adjust. Don't ever say "it's how we've always done it". Be ready to adjust.
