💡 MYTH MONDAY

MYTH: Breast implants need to be replaced every 10 years.

❌ FALSE.

This is one of the most common misconceptions I hear in consultation.

The truth is that modern breast implants do not have an expiration date, and there is no recommendation that they automatically be replaced after 10 years.

Breast implants should be evaluated over time and may need to be replaced if:
• An implant ruptures
• Capsular contracture develops
• Implant position changes
• Your aesthetic goals change
• Or another issue arises

If you're happy with your results and there are no concerns, there is often no reason to undergo surgery simply because your implants reach a certain age.

Routine follow-up with your plastic surgeon—and imaging when appropriate—is the best way to monitor implant health and determine whether any intervention is necessary.
