Clinical Trials Day

Every year on May 20, we observe Clinical Trials Day, recognizing the essential contributions of clinical research to medical progress. The day serves as an opportunity to increase awareness, promote engagement in research, and highlight available resources for those interested in participating.

May 20 commemorates James Lind’s groundbreaking work in 1747, when he carried out the first documented randomized clinical trial while investigating treatments for scurvy aboard a Royal Navy vessel.

As we mark this occasion, we also take time to acknowledge how far the field has come and recommit ourselves to conducting research responsibly. In alignment with the Belmont principles, we remain dedicated to protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of every research participant.
